OPEN SV LaunchPad Event 

OPEN SV is pleased to bring LauchPad program to its second year for upcoming and experienced entrepreneurs alike. OPEN LaunchPad is designed to bridge the gap between the entrepreneurs and the potential investors.

As an entrepreneur, you have got your pitch polished and the slide deck worked out; the next step is to get in front of the investors. Many entrepreneurs need mentorship and feedback, but every entrepreneur needs the feedback. OPEN LaunchPad will host quarterly events to provide a platform to the entrepreneurs to present to the VCs and seed investors.

Entrepreneurs, mentors/advisors and potential investors are invited to attend and fuel the energy of the initiative.

AGENDA: Judges will provide valuable feedback to the line up of presenting entrepreneurs.

Alicia Castillo Holley, Angel Investor


Alicia Castillo Holley, an active angel investor, is the founder of the Wealthing® Institute that empowers individuals to use passion and legacy to grow the economy. As a serial entrepreneur, she has started seven companies and two non-profits, successfully exiting four and failing miserably in two. During her stay in Chile, she created the country's first Centre for Entrepreneurship and later the first privately held seed capital fund. A global citizen, Castillo has lived in six countries, and has been a guest lecturer at over 20 institutions in Latin and North America, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, and Asia/Australia. She has published seven books and numerous articles on innovation, entrepreneurship, funding, and wealth creation.  She holds an engineering degree, a master of science, a master of business administration, and a PhD in entrepreneurship and finance. Recently relocating to Silicon Valley, her latest venture seeks to revolutionize business education.

Stewart Guenther, Board Member, Family Media Angels


Stewart is the co-founder of the Venture Capital Roundtable, a unique member only business association of Angel, Venture Capital, Corporate Venture and Private Equity Investors. Since early 2011 Stewart is leading ReachingOut! that focuses on meaningfully bridging international centers of entrepreneurship, innovation, and venture to the Silicon Valley. As the Executive Director of CAS Capital Partners, Stewart launched an early stage venture firm The Fast Lane to Clean Technology Fund and associate Cleantech incubator focusing on Clean Technology in the Transportation and Smart Building sectors. Prior to becoming active in the venture industry Stewart held senior product, marketing, and business development roles in networking, B2C and B2B software, mobility and embedded systems companies. Stewart is an advisor and mentor to select start-ups on business planning, international expansion, capital sourcing and acquisition positioning. Stewart received his Master of International Business degree from Pepperdine University and the European Business School in Östrich-Winkel, Germany. He received a B.S. in International Business from San Jose State University and is always looking to improve his conversational German and gain exposure to new languages and cultures.

Riaz Karamali, Partner, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman


Mr. Karamali is a partner in the Corporate & Securities – Technology practice in the firm's Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices. Mr. Karamali has extensive experience in corporate law, venture finance, private equity, strategic mergers and acquisitions and technology transactions. Mr. Karamali has worked with hundreds of start-up and emerging companies, guiding them from their pre-founding stages through their angel and venture capital financing rounds, significant commercial contracts and strategic alliances to their ultimate exit transactions. He has acted as outside general counsel to many such privately held companies in a wide range of industries including the video game, cloud computing, mobile, biotechnology, semiconductor and medical device sectors. He received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his B.A. from Rice University where he achieved a triple major in Economics, English Literature and Political Science.

Sudhakar Muddu 

VP and GM Cloud and Big Data Analytics



Sudhakar Muddu is a seasoned and successful entrepreneur. Dr. Muddu founded Cetas in 2010 to solve customer challenges in Big Data, On-line App Analytics and Hadoop Analytics. Before Cetas, Muddu was at EMC as the Chief Strategy Advisor for the Information Management group and VP/GM of Cloud Information Services. Muddu work focused on Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Information Services and Virtualization architectures at EMC. Kazeon ( was acquired by EMC ( in 2009 and Kazeon is a leader in Enterprise Information Management. Muddu was the CEO and Founder of Kazeon which focused in the area of large scale eDiscovery, Enterprise Search, information classification and management, and Information security. Before co-founding Kazeon in 2003, he co-founded Sanera Systems, a next-generation SAN technology company, where he served as president and board member.Sanera was started in 2000 and was acquired by McData in 2003, while McData was acquired by Brocade ( Muddu holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. from University of California, Los Angeles and a B.S. from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

Shoieb Yunus, Chair, OPEN SV LaunchPad


Shoieb Yunus is a charter member of OPEN Silicon Valley. At OPEN SV, Shoieb leads the LaunchPad program designed to bridge the gap between the entrepreneurs and the investors. Shoieb is an entrepreneur, seasoned product marketing professional and an indie filmmaker. He has an impressive record of developing and managing products, revenue growth, user acquisition and growth hacking and played leadership and critical roles at industry leaders and early stage startups across Machine Learning, SaaS, Digital Video, Social Networking, Mobile Apps, Embedded Systems, Sensors (MEMS, biometrics, authentication) and Data Fusion. AuthenTec, now Apple, acquired Shoieb’s first startup EzValidation, a fingerprint authentication software company. He is a pioneer in delivering first cloud-based, simple ‘live’ video streaming app on Facebook. Currently, Shoieb is building a Machine Learning-based Job-to-Candidate Matching System for the enterprise. He earned BS in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky.
